• Listen without judgment and receive disclosures with compassion and empathy.
• Provide a safe space where people feel heard, respected, and valued.
• Offer helpful information about how to report, how and where to get help, safety and resources.
• Empower the Survivor to make choices they are comfortable with. Their control was taken away, so allow them the autonomy of choice to give them their power back.
• Promote healing and recovery by being a reliable, supportive and understanding point of contact.
• Advocate for justice and work towards eliminating harassment, abuse, and discrimination.
